Skyscraper Graveyards

by Gracie Moore
The sky has fallen and shattered into a sea of manmade stars.
The cities lie splayed out and bleeding light.
A million wounds harden into concrete graves.
Which swarm with life.
Natura non constristatur1.

Lamplit windows wrapping around fragile breaths,
who walk through ruins built on ruins,
searching for someone to love
among the huddled masses in Monday suits
leaving fingerprints all over each others hearts.
When our light is blotted out, where will the memories go?
Inis vitae sed non amoris2.

The stars fall from the sky
and worlds collapse in on themselves,
and God flits in and out of existence,
but this is our question.
“do we leave a dent where we fall?”
Respice finem3.
  1. Latin, meaning: nature is not saddened
  2. Latin, meaning :this is the end of life but not the end of love
  3. Latin, meaning: consider the end
